## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER RELEASE OF THE TOW, PILOT BECOME DISORIENTED AND LOST SIGHT OF THE FIELD. AFTER REVIEWING OPTIONS, MANEUVERING AND LOSING ALTITUDE, DECIDED TO PUT THE GLIDER IN ALONG THE EDGE OF A CORNFIELD. SUBSEQUENT LANDING TECHNIQUE ALONG WITH FIELD CONDITIONS LEAD TO SUBSTANITAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA326](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA326), Jul 10, 2022: Schweizer SGS 2-33A (N3616Q), Waynesville, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of situational awareness (geographic position), which resulted in his inability to locate the intended landing runway and his decision to perform an off-airport landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
