## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A PILOT AND FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WERE PERFORMING A SUIMULATED POWER FAILURE AT TAKEOFF IN A CIRRUS SR-22. THE PROCEDURE WAS DISCUSSED PRIOR TO THE FLIGHT. AFTER ROTATION THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR REDUCED POWER TO SIMULATE A POWER FAILURE. AT THAT TIME THE FLAP SEETING WAS AT 50% (TAKEOFF SETTING). THE CORRECT PROCEDURE WAS TO LOWER FLAPS TO 100% AND USE REMAINING RUNWAY FOR LANDING. THE PILOT INCORRECTLY RAISED FLAPS RESULTING IN A RAPID SINK OF THE AIRCRAFT AND A HARD LANDING ON THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
