## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

JULY 15, 2022 WHILE EN ROUTE FROM KBQK TO KALB. SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTING KBQK ON INITIAL CLIMB OUT THE CREW HEARD A THUMP AND SUSPECTED A POSSIBLE BIRD STRIKE. THE CREW ENCOUNTERED NO CONTROLLABILITY ISSUES. THE PILOT DID NOT SUSPECT ANY STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. THE CREW CONTINUED TO TROUBLE SHOOT, TO SEE IF THERE MIGHT BE ANY PRESSURIZATION ISSUES. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED 10,000 FEET, THE CREW NOTICED THAT THE CABIN WAS ALSO APPROACHING 10,000 FEET. AT THAT POINT, THE CREW NOTIFIED ATC THAT WE WERE ENCOUNTERING PRESSURIZATION PROBLEMS AND REQUESTED 10,000 FEET AS A FINAL ALTITUDE WHILE WE EXPLORED DIFFERENT DIVERSION OPTIONS. AFTER CONFERRING WITH THE COMPANY?S FLIGHT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENTS AND EXPLORING DIFFERENT OPTIONS, THEY DETERMINED THAT PITTSBURGH WAS THE BEST OPTION. THE CREW ADVISED ATC THAT AS A PRECAUTIONARY WE WOULD LIKE TO DIVERT TO KPIT AT 10,000 FEET. THE FLIGHT CONTINUED TO PITTSBURGH AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA325](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA325), Jul 15, 2022: Raytheon 400A (N400MX), Brunswick, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: An in-flight collision with a bird.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
