## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS TAXIING TO THE RUNWAY VIA P1 AND AN AIRCRAFT FROM BEHIND RAN INTO THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE ELEVATORS, RUDDER, HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL STABILIZERS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA346](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA346), Jul 28, 2022: Meschler Gary R RV-4 (N79KM), Oshkosh, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the pilot of N694V (RV-8) to maintain clearance from the preceding airplane, N79KM (RV-4), while taxiing for takeoff, which resulted in an on-ground collision.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
