## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

HE DEPARTED THE NORTH WILKSBORO AIRPORT (UKF) AND RETRACTED THE LANDING GEAR. WHEN THE GEAR WAS RETRACTING HE HEARD A ?BANG?. THE MAIN GEAR FULLY RETRACTED, BUT THE NOSE GEAR DID NOT. HE ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE LANDING GEAR DOWN AND THE MAIN GEAR EXTENDED BUT THE NOSE GEAR DID NOT.

HE DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH ATC AND ASKED TO DIVERT TO INT SINCE THEY WOULD HAVE EMERGENCY SERVICES AVAILABLE THERE, IF NEEDED. HE TRIED TO TROUBLESHOOT AND WENT THROUGH HIS EMERGENCY CHECKLISTS, INCLUDING A MANUAL GEAR EXTENSION, BUT THE NOSE GEAR NEVER FULLY EXTENDED.

HE LANDED ON RUNWAY 33 WITH THE NOSE GEAR NOT FULLY EXTENDED. THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR, THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT, AND BOTH PROPELLERS. BOTH MAIN FUEL TANKS (TIP TANKS ON THIS MODEL) ARE LEAKING FUEL. HE WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
