## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT ON HIS RETURN TO THE AIRPORT (D79) HE WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE DUE TO A LACK OF UP LIFT IN THE AREA. HE DECIDED TO LAND IN A FIELD. ON APPROACH TO THE FIELD THE AIRCRAFT CLIPPED SOME TREES AND CRASHED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE TWO OCCUPANTS HAD MINOR INJURIES AND DECLINED TREATMENT AT THE SCENE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA388](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA388), Aug 27, 2022: Schleicher K7 (N107AS), Mayville, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The glider’s encounter with atmospheric conditions where the lift was not sufficient to maintain flight, which resulted in an off-airport landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
