## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS CONDUCTING AIR TOUR OPERATIONS ORIGINATING FROM A FARMSTEAD RURAL BEARDSLEY, MN. DURING THE ACCIDENT FLIGHT, THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE LANDING ZONE FROM THE NORTH. THE PILOT BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT NEARLY TO A HOVER AND ATTEMPTED TO PERFORM A PEDAL TURN INTO THE WIND. AT APPROXIMATELY 75 FEET AGL THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AS THE LOW RPM LIGHT AND HORN ACTIVATED. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD ON THE SKIDS BEFORE ROLLING ON ITS SIDE. NEITHER THE PILOT NOR THE PASSENGERS REPORTED INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA404](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA404), Aug 30, 2022: Robinson Helicopter R44 (N7048C), Beardsley, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain aircraft control during the approach to land that resulted in an excessive descent rate and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
