## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT ON THE MORNING OF THE FLIGHT, HE WAS FLYING WITH AN INSTRUCTOR PILOT IN HIS OWN AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT STATED THAT THEY CONDUCTED A PREFLIGHT CHECK FOLLOWED BY ENGINE START CHECKLIST AND A PRE-TAXI BRAKE CHECK. THE PILOT STATED THAT EVERYTHING APPEARED AND FELT NORMAL WITH THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT STATED THAT THEY PROCEEDED TO TAXI ON TAXIWAY A NORTHBOUND TO THE RUNUP AREA FOR RUNWAY 17. AS THE PILOT REACHED THE END OF THE TAXIWAY, HE STATED THAT HE TRIED TO PULL POWER TO IDLE AND PRESS THE BRAKES. THE PILOT FURTHER STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDALS WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND THE AIRPLANE DID NOT SLOW DOWN AT ALL. THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CONTROLS AND TRIED HIS TOE BRAKES WITH THE SAME RESULT. THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT PULLED THE PARKING BRAKE TO TRY TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT, BUT NOTHING CHANGED. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE END OF THE TAXIWAY, THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT STEERED LEFT USING RUDDER TO TRY TO STAY ON THE PAVEMENT. THE AIRCRAFT LEFT TAXIWAY A6 INTO DIRT AND GRAVEL AND FELL INTO A DITCH. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED IN THE DITCH AND CAME TO A STOP LEANING TO THE RIGHT WITHIN THE DITCH.
