## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT ABOUT 1513 ON 9/3/2022, THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED WHILE FLYING FROM LONGMONT, CO (KLMO) TO SEELEY LAKE AIRPORT (23S). THE PILOTS FLEW BETWEEN 100 AND 200 FEET OVER THE RUNWAY TO LOOK FOR ANY ANIMALS OR OBSTACLES ON THE RUNWAY. WHILE CIRCLING BACK AROUND FOR A LANDING, THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND QUIT. THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED APPROXIMATELY 4,000 FT SSW OF RWY 34.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA337](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA337), Sep 3, 2022: Cessna 180 (N3135D), Seeley Lake, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to fuel starvation as a result of unporting of the fuel.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
