## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 05, 2022, AT 1037 EDT, AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, AN EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT LANCAIR IV-P, LANDED AT LAKELAND LINDER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KLAL). THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THE RUNWAY WAS DRY AT KLAL. UPON TOUCHDOWN ON RUNWAY 28L THE PILOT NOTED A SHIMMY COMING FROM THE NOSE LANDING GEAR AND PULLED BACK ON THE CONTROLS TO KEEP WEIGHT OFF OF THE NOSE GEAR. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT SLOWED AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR CAME FULLY IN CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY, THE SHIMMY BECAME MORE VIOLENT AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT NOSE DROPPED CAUSING THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE RUNWAY RESULTING IN THE ENGINE STOPPING. A LOCAL MAINTENANCE FACILITY WAS CALLED TO ASSIST IN REMOVAL OF THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LIFTED, THE NOSE LANDING GEAR EXTENDED, AND WAS TOWED TO THE RAMP. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY PERSON ON BOARD AND WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
