## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS MAKING INBOUND TURN FOR LANDING ON RUNWAY 14 AT 1200 FEET WHEN HIS ENGINE SPUTTERED AND THEN STOPPED. PILOT MANAGED TO RESTART ENGINE AND IT SPUTTERED AND STOPPED AGAIN. PILOT MANAGED TO RESTART ENGINE AGAIN AND DECIDED TO MAKE A PRECAUTINARY LANDING, UNDER POWER, IN A COTTON FIELD 3/4 OF A MILE SHORT OF RUNWAY 14. NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR ITEMS ON THE GROUND. MECHANIC FOUND A CIRCULAR PEACE OF CARDBOARD IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL TANK WHICH BLOCKED THE FUEL INTAKE LINE. WHEN ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF, FUEL SUCTION WOULD QUIT ALSO ALLOWING THE AIRCRAFT TO RESTART. AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
