## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT OPTED TO LAND ON A GRAVEL BAR ALONG A RIVER DURING A HUNTING TRIP. TOWARDS THE END OF THE ROLLOUT, THE PILOT ENCOUNTERED SOFT SAND, WHICH FLIPED THE AIRCRAFT FORWARD DURING DECELLERATION. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED ON THE TIPS OF THE PROPELLER AND RUDDER. DAMAGE CONFIRMED WITH PICTURES. APPEARS TO BE SUBSTANCIAL DAMAGE TO THE RUDDER (MAJOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT). PILOT SAID WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA422](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA422), Sep 7, 2022: Piper PA-18-150 (N590DC), Galena, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s selection of unsuitable terrain for landing which resulted in a nose over.

## Other reports on N590DC (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19880324024389I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19880324024389I), Mar 24, 1988: Piper PA18150 (N590DC), Anchorage, AK. Left main wheel locked up when pilot used brakes on landing roll. Veered into a snowbank on runway edge.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
