## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT THERE WAS A TROPICAL STORM ABOUT 130 MILES SOUTH OF SAN DIEGO. THE WEATHER AT THE AIRPORT WAS REPORTED AS IMC WITH HEAVY RAIN AND CALM WIND. THE LEAR 36 WAS ON A VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 36 AT KNZY AIRPORT. AFTER LANDING THE PILOTS WERE NOT ABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT ON THE AVAILABLE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND CONTINUED TO TRAVEL PAST THE 600' OVERRUN SECTION OF THE RUNWAY, COMING TO A STOP ABOUT 1100' PAST THE END OF RUNWAY 36. THE REFERENCE LANDING AIRSPEED WAS A 140 KNOTS (VREF) BASED ON PILOT CALCULATION. TRACON RADAR, ATC TOWER RADAR, AND ADS-B DATA ALL SHOW THE AIRCRAFT CROSSING THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD AT187 KNOTS GROUND SPEED. THE WIND REPORT WAS 200 AT 6 KNOTS. THE PILOTS REPORTED LIGHT RAIN WITH NO SIGNIFICANT WIND DURING THE APPROACH FOR LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA344](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA344), Sep 9, 2022: Gates Lear Jet 36 (N26FN), San Diego, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight crew’s fast landing on a wet runway, which resulted in the airplane hydroplaning during the landing roll and subsequently overrunning the runway.
