As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS PRACTICING LANDINGS WHEN IT WAS DETERMINED DURING SHORT FINAL THAT THEY WERE TOO HIGH FOR A LANDING. THEY INITIATED A MISSED APPROACH PROCEDURE AND STARTED A CLIMB-OUT. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS ABOUT MID-FIELD AND AT SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE RPM WAS LOST AND THE ENGINE WAS TRYING TO TEAR ITSELF FROM THE ENGINE MOUNTS, THE FLIGHT CREW (CFII) RADIOED "MAYDAY" 3 TIMES AND TURNED THE AIRCRAFT 90 DEGREES AWAY FROM THE RUNWAY AND PREPARED TO DO AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING. WITH LESS THAN 100' AGL, THE ENGINE GAINED PARTIAL POWER AND THE CFII GOT THE AIRCRAFT BACK TO THE AIRPORT AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
