## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ A CIRRUS SR22, WAS ENROUTE BETWEEN LAURENCE G HANSCOM FIELD (KBED) AND NEW GARDEN AIRPORT (N57) ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN.

WHEN APPROACHING N57 THE PILOTS REQUESTED THE RNAV 06 APPROACH, WHICH WAS GRANTED. PILOT FLYING PUT ON A VIEW LIMITING DEVICE IN ORDER TO USE THE APPROACH FOR CURRENCY. PILOT NOT FLYING WAS ACTING AS SAFETY PILOT.

WHILE PASSING DELFA ON THE PROCEDURE TURN INBOUND THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A BALD EAGLE. PILOT FLYING REMOVED THE VIEW LIMITING DEVICE AND CONTINUED NORMALLY ON THE APPROACH. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD, COCKPIT HEADLINER AND UPPER FUSELAGE ADJACENT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
