## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOTS STATEMENT: ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2022, AT 12:15AM, I WAS RETURNING FROM A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP FROM ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA. I MADE A VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 36 AND LANDED WITH NO PROBLEMS. UPON LANDING AT AUGUSTA MUNICIPAL (3AU), A DEER RAN ONTO THE RUNWAY AND I STRUCK THE DEER WITH THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRPLANE IMMEDIATELY LOST RIGHT BRAKING POWER AND I STEERED THE AIRPLANE ACROSS THE GRASS SECTION AND ONTO TAXIWAY A. I STOPPED THE AIRPLANE ON TAXIWAY A AND DIAGNOSED WITH MY CO-PILOT THAT WE HAD LOST THE RIGHT BRAKING AUTHORITY. I APPLIED VERY LITTLE POWER AND USED THE RUDDER TO TAXI THE AIRPLANE BACK TO PRAY AVIATION.

AFTER TYING DOWN THE AIRCRAFT, I TOOK PICTURES OF THE AIRPLANE AND THEN PROCEEDED BACK TO THE RUNWAY TO FIND THE REMAINS OF THE DEER STILL ON THE RUNWAY. I THEN REMOVED THE DEER FROM THE RUNWAY TO THE GRASSY SIDE STRIP OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRPLANE WAS A CESSNA 172 SKYHAWK WITH THE TAIL NUMBER OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. WE WERE TIME-BUILDING TO REACH ATP MINIMUMS. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTIONS, THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT BRAKE LINE. THE AIRPLANE IS STILL UNDERGOING INSPECTIONS FOR DAMAGE.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
