## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2022 BEACHCRAFT BONANZA, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS APPROACHING HENDERSON AIRPORT NV, (HND) FOR LANDING. WHILE ON FINAL AT APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET AGL, THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH TERAINAIN SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED BY THE TWO OCCUPANTS. NO POST CRASH FIRE OCCURRED.

THE PILOT STATED DURING THE FLIGHT, THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS POSITIONED TO DRAW FUEL FROM RIGHT MAIN TANK. AFTER 25 MINIMUTES THE RIGHT MAIN TANK WAS STILL INDICATING FULL. ON FINAL THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS THEN SWITCHED TO THE LEFT MAIN TANK. HOWEVER, THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP WAS NOT SWITCHED ON. THE ENGINE DID NOT RESTART.

DURING THE POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION IT WAS DISCOVED THAT THE RIGHT MAIN TANK WAS EMPTY AND THE FUEL BLADDER HAD COLLAPSED HOLDING THE FUEL GAUGE FLOAT IN THE UP POSITION INDICATING FULL FUEL. THE LEFT MAIN, LEFT AND RIGHT AUX TANKS WERE FULL, RIGHT TIP TANK WAS THREE QUARTER FULL AND THE LEFT TIP TANK WAS DESTOYED DURING THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA349](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA349), Sep 15, 2022: Beech M35 (N9876R), Henderson, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor’s failure to verify the fuel quantity and improper fuel management, which resulted in fuel starvation and a total loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
