## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED HE REDUCED POWER TO THE ENGINE PRIOR TO TURNING HIS BASE LEG AND EXPERIENCED A POWER LOSS. HE ATTEMPTED TO INCREASE POWER AND GOT NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. HE MANAGED TO FLY TO THE RUNWAY AND EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING. INVESTIGATION DISCOVERED MARKS ON THE RUNWAY INDICATING HARD CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY AND A RESULTING REBOUND AND SECOND CONTACT. BOTH MAIN GEAR WHEELS DETACHED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. MARKINGS ON THE RUNWAY INDICATE THAT THE AIRCRAFT SLID APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET AND EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT FIRE, CAUSING MINOR BURNS TO THE PILOT AND THE PASSENGER.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
