## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2022, THE SUBJECT AIRCRAFT WAS IN THE LANDING ROLLOUT ON RWY 27 AT PINE MOUNTAIN LAKE AIRPORT (E45). AS THE PIC WAS IN THE ROLLOUT HE NOTICED A DEER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE RUNNING ALONG SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE DEER SUDDELNLY DARTED IN FRONT OF THE AIRPLANE. THE PIC BRAKED AGGRESSIVELY TO AVOIND HITTING THE DEER. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP ONTO ITS BACK WHICH LED TO SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED IN THIS POSITION UNTIL BYSTANDERS ARRIVED TO ASSISST IN PLACING THE AIRCRAFT IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE VERTICAL TAIL. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRACING ON THE LEFT WING WAS BENT AND THE LEFT WING APPEARED TO DROOP DOWN. THE LEFT WINGTIP ALSO SUSTAINED DAMAGE. THE LEFT WING FUEL TANK APPEARED TO HAVE MOVED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POSITION. THE WIRES SUPPORTING THE HORIZONTAL TAIL WERE LOOSE AND NO LONGER TAUGHT. THE RIGHT LEADING-EDGE SLAT DETACHED FROM THE WING. THE PROPELLER ALSO SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE. IT IS ASSUMED THAT THE GEARBOX FOR THE ROTAX 912S IS ALSO DAMAGED. THE ENGINE HAD NOT YET BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE FAA VISIT. THE STRUTS CONNECTING THE MAIN LANDING GEAR TO THE FUSELAGE ALSO APPEARED TO BE DAMAGED. THERE ALSO APPEARED TO BE BUCKLING IN THE EMPENAGE AREA AND ALSO AREAS INSIDE THE COCKPIT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA365](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA365), Oct 1, 2022: Mary Alexander JA30 Superstol (N119AM), Groveland, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's excessive application of brake during an attempt to avoid wildlife while taxing resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
