## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

EVIDENCE OF THE WRECKAGE FROM^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^AS WELL AS A STATEMENT FROM THE PILOT INDICATE THAT AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 9 AT THE BORGES-CLARKSBURG AIRPORT. THE PILOT STATEMENT MENTIONED THAT THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A GUST OF WIND CAUSING IT TO WEATHERVANE, SUBSEQUENTLY VEERING IT TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH A POST AND AN ATTACHED WINDSOCK ON THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO PREACCIDENTAL MECHANICAL FAILURES OR MALFUNCTIONS WITH THE AIRCRAFT. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR23LA008](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR23LA008), Oct 1, 2022: Seabourn Scott R CCK-2000 (N699X), Clarksburg, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll with a gusting quartering tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
