## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT DEPARTED CHANDLER AIRPORT (CHD) AT 0445 AFTER PREFLIGHTING THE AIRCRAFT. HE THEN COMPLETED 3 NIGHT LANDINGS AT (CHD) HELIPORT AND THEN PROCEEDED NORTH TO MCDONALD DRIVE AND THEN WEST TO CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN. HE THEN MADE A TURN AND HEADED BACK EAST TO HIGHWAY 87 AND THEN TURNED SOUTH TOWARD (CHD). WHEN PASSING SOUTHERN AVENUE AT 2000 AGL THE ENGINE QUIT ABRUPTLY. HE THEN COMMENANCED AN AUTO-ROTATION AND SELECTED A RESIDENTAL STREET TO LAND ON. JUST PRIOR TO LANDING HE STIRRED TO AVOILD LIGHT POLES WHICH RESULTED IN A HARD LANDING. THEN EXITED THE AIRCRAFT NORMALLY WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR23LA006](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR23LA006), Oct 1, 2022: Bell 47G2 (N24067), Mesa, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
