## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT 4:15 PM PDT, 10/8, BURLINGTON, WA. A CESSNA 172 LANDED HARD ON MAIN GEAR AT SKAGIT REGIONAL AIRPORT (KBVS), BOUNCED BACK UP, CAME BACK DOWN WITH THE NOSE RESULTING IN A PROP STRIKE. AIRCRAFT TAXIED BACK SAFELY AND TIED DOWN. ON (10/10), MECHANICS DISCOVERED SUBSTANTIAL FIREWALL DAMAGE. 1 POB, NO INJURIES. THE PILOT INCORRECTLY RESPONDED TO THE AIRCRAFT AFTER BOUNCING FROM A HARD LANDING. INSTEAD OF ADDING BACKPRESSURE TO ADD MORE LIFT AND TO KEEP THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT AT AN APPROPRIATE ANGLE, THE PILOT PUSHED FORWARD ON THE YOKE, EXACERBATING THE LOSS OF LIFT AND DECREASING THE ANGLE OF ATTACK. THIS LED TO THE AIRCRAFT NOSE STRIKING THE RUNWAY CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER AND ENGINE FIREWALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
