## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ATTEMPTED TO DEPART SAND BAR LOCATED ON LAKE. THE SAND BAR WAS APPROXIMATELY 1000FT IN LENGTH FOLLOWED BY A CHANNEL OF WATER. ATTEMPTED DEPARTURE RESULTED IN OVERUNNING THE RUNWAY AND COMING TO REST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CHANNEL INVERTED AND IN SHALLOW WATER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23LA012](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23LA012), Oct 9, 2022: Maule MX-7-160 (N41510), Northville, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to depart from an area of wet sand, which resulted in a nose over during the attempted takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
