## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING FLIGHT INSTRUCTION OF A CERTIFICATED AIRMAN WISHING TO OBTAIN A TAILWHEEL ENDORSEMENT. THIS WAS THE AIRMAN'S FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH TAILWHEEL AIRCRAFT. ON THE ACCIDENT LANDING, THE TOUCHDOWN WAS NORMAL, BUT THE STUDENT MISMANAGED THE CONTROLS AND APPLIED TOO MUCH BRAKE FORCE WHEN THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO VEER FROM THE RUNWAY. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT DUE TO THE SUDDENESS OF THE STUDENT'S REACTION. THE AIRPLANE THEN NOSED OVER ONTO IT'S BACK. INJURIES WERE MINOR FOR BOTH INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT.

THERE WILL BE NO CORRECTIVE ACTION DUE TO THE AIRMAN'S ABILITY IN A TRICYCLE GEARED AIRCRAFT IS NOT IN QUESTION, AND NO TAILWHEEL ENDORSEMENT WAS OBTAINED.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
