## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED HE WAS LANDING IN GUSTY SURFACE WIND CONDITIONS. UPON FLARING TO LAND, A GUST OF WIND CAUGHT THE AIRCRAFT AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT'S NOSE TO PITCH UP, WHICH INITIATED A STALL CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO SETTLE DOWN UPON THE RUNWAY HARDER THAN INTENDED. FROM THIS, DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE UNDERNEATH THE COCKPIT AROUND THE MAIN LANDING GEAR, FABRIC OF THE AIRCRAFT COVERING THE AREA, AND DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT-WING TIP OCCURRED. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO TAXI CLEAR OF THE RUNWAY IN USE AT THE TIME, AND RECIEVED NO INJURIES FROM THE ACCIDENT. IT WAS DETERMINED THROUGH THE INVESTIGATION. THE PILOT'S COMPETENCE IS NOT IN QUESTION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA029](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA029), Nov 2, 2022: Maule M7-235B (N190Y), Topeka, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control during landing with strong gusty surface winds.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
