## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON A MAINTENANCE CHECK FLIGHT FOLLOWING A MAJOR INSPECTION. ON RETURN TO VAN NUYS AIRPORT, KVNY, THE NOSE LANDING GEAR (NLG) FAILED TO EXTEND. THE FLIGHT CREW COMPLETED AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY PROCEDURES TO EXTEND THE GEAR AND MADE NUMEROUS FLIGHTS BY THE TOWER TO CONFIRM NLG POSITION, WHICH WAS CONFIRMED NOT IN THE DOWN POSITION. AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON RUNWAY 16R WAS MADE WITH THE AIRCRAFT SLIDING ON THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT HALFWAY DOWN THE RUNWAY COMING TO A STOP ON THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
