## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS OPERATING AIRPLANE AT LOW ALTITUDE WITH 2 PASSENGERS ALONG SCENIC HIGHWAY AND STRUCK POWER TRANSMISSION LINES AT APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET. TOP OF VERTICAL STABILIZER AND RUDDER WERE SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT CONTINUED APPROXIMATELY THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE WITH ONLY LIMITED CONTROLLABILITY WHEN IT STRUCK THE SURFACE IN AN OPEN CROP FIELD. AIRPLANE LANDED HARD, COLLAPSED MAIN GEAR, PROP STRIKE AND SLID 120 FEET TO FINAL RESTING POINT. PILOT AND PASSENGERS WERE TRANSPORTED TO AREA HOSPITAL WHERE THEY WERE TREATED AND RELEASED FOR MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA058](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA058), Dec 3, 2022: Stinson 108-3 (N7659X), Regent, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain clearance from high tension wires while maneuvering at low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
