## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A WITNESS JUST SOUTH OF THE CORNING AIRPORT REPORTED SEEING THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHING RUNWAY 36 LOW AND FAST. DURING THE ATTEMPTED LANDING AND GO AROUND THE AIRCRAFT PASSED BEYOND THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 36 AND SETTLED FOLLOWING THE DESCENDING TOPOGRAPHY. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED A POWER LINE AND TREES CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO BECOME INVERTED PRIOR TO IMPACTING THE GROUND. POST-CRASH FIRE CONSUMED COCKPIT/CABIN AREA OF AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23FA059](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23FA059), Dec 5, 2022: Engineering & Research Ercoupe 415-C (N99345), Corning, IA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from obstructions during a go-around, which resulted in impact with powerlines, a tree, and the ground.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
