## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER PASSING THE AIMING POINT FOR RUNWAY 22L AT MATHER, THE STUDENT ROUNDED-OUT HIGH WITH LOW ENERGY. THE INSTRUCTOR APPLIED FULL POWER AND TRIED TO GO AROUND. THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN AND BOUNCED DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE SINK RATE. AS SOON AS THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN IT INCREASED THE PITCH ANGLE ABRUPTLY. THE INSTRUCTOR APPLIED FORWARD PRESSURE TO REDUCE THE ANGLE OF ATTACK TO PREVENT A STALL AND A TAIL STRIKE. AFTER THAT THE AIRPLANE STARTED PORPOISING THREE TIMES, AND THE INSTRUCTOR DECIDED NOT TO TAKE OFF AGAIN BUT LANDED. THE CREW DID NOT SEE OR HEAR ANYTHING UNUSUAL TO INDICATE A PROP STRIKE. AIRCRAFT CLEARED THE RUNWAY. THEY TAXIED BACK TO THE RAMP AND SHUTDOWN. DURING THE POST FLIGHT THE INSTRUCTOR CHECKED THE TAIL FOR LOWER FIN SCRATCHES WHICH SHOWED NO SIGN OF DAMAGE. AS THE POST FLIGHT CONTINUED, THEY FOUND DAMAGE TO THE PROP. THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
