## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LANDED RWY 7/25 AND VEERED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. ACFT THEN WENT UP A SMALL EMBANKMENT AND CAME TO REST NEAR AN AIRPORT BUILDING. NO DAMAGE REPORTED TO AIRPORT PROPERTY. AIRCRAFT SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. MINOR INJURY.

AFTER REVIEWING VIDEO, PICTURES DOCUMENTATION AND STATEMENTS AND EXAMINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS NO MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN THAT AFTER THE AIRCRAFT WAS JACKED UP (WHEEL OFF THE GROUND) THE LEFT WHEEL SPUN FREELY, THE LEFT BRAKE OPERATED SATISFACTORILY WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE LEFT PEDAL. THE TIRE HAD NO FLAT STOPS OR INDICATION OF ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR. THE RIGHT WHEEL WAS EXAMINED ALSO FOR FLAT SPOTS OR ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR IN WHICH IT HAD NO INDICATION EITHER.

PIC ADAMANTLY INDICATED THAT THE LEFT BRAKE GRABBED AND WOULD NOT LET LOOSE. THIS COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THERE WAS ONE SKID MARK ON RUNWAY APPROXIMATELY 50 FT. VEERING LEFT. NO FURTHER ACTION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23LA080](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23LA080), Dec 5, 2022: James R Dernovsek Kitfox (N257ED), Woodsfield, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
