## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT, THE CFI^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DECIDED TO DO PRACTICE LANDINGS AT GOOSE BAY AIRPORT (Z40). BOTH THE CFI AND STUDENT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^IDENTIFIED AND RECOGNIZED THERE WAS FRESH SNOW ON THE RUNWAY, FLEW OVER THE RUNWAY AND DID A VISUAL INSPECTION. THEY DECIDED IT WAS SAFE TO ATTEMPT PRACTICE LANDINGS. THE CFI MADE THE LANDING ATTEMPT AND SLIGHTLY BOUNCED UPON INITIAL TOUCHDOWN. ONCE THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN AGAIN, THE TIRES DUG INTO THE SNOW AND THE AIRCRAFT NOSED OVER, SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGING THE RUDDER, WING STRUTS, PROPELLER, AND NOSE SPINNER. NO INJURIES REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC23LA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC23LA017), Dec 8, 2022: Piper PA-22-150 (N3861P), Wasilla, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable landing site, which resulted in a nose over after the main landing gear wheels broke through deep snow on the snow-covered runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
