## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 19, 2022, AT APPROXIMATELY 4:30 PM, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ON APPROACH MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD, APPROXIMATELY ½ MILE SHORT OF RUNWAY 18, (KHRO) BOONE COUNTY AIRPORT, HARRISON ARKANSAS. THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^OPERATOR STATED HE TOPPED OFF THE PLANE AT (KCMI) WILLARD, ILLINOIS WITH AROUND 72 GALLONS ON BOARD. BURNING JUST OVER 15 GALLONS PER HOUR HE SHOULD HAVE 50+ GALLONS OF FUEL ON THE PLANE AFTER LANDING.

THE AIRMAN STATED HE SWITCHED TANKS WHEN HE CROSSED THE FIRST INTIAL APPROACH FIX FOR RNAV 18 (ADOKE) AND CANCELLED IFR AS HE HAD GOOD VISUALIZATION OF THE AIRPORT.

ON SHORT FINAL THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED. HE STATED, ALL ELECTRONICS WERE STILL OPERATING PERFECTLY. THERE WAS AN ATTEMPT TO RESTART ENGINE, INCLUDING SWITCHING TANKS BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THE AIRMAN STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS ALREADY SO LOW HAVING FOLLOWED THE GLIDE SCOPE, THAT HE IMMEDIATELY SEARCHED FOR AN AREA TO MAKE A LANDING. UPON LANDING IN A FIELD AND COMING TO A STOP HE NOTICED THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT FIRE DESTROYING THE FUSELAGE. THERE WAS NO INJURIES TO THE AIRMAN OR PASSENGER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA066](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA066), Dec 19, 2022: Beech A36 (N8137P), Harrison, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
