## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT RIGHT OUTER WING MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND AFTER CROSSING THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD DURING THE LANDING SEQUENCE TO RUNWAY 31. PIC ABORTED THE LANDING ATTEMPT AND INITIATED A GO-AROUND. AFTER ENTERING THE RIGHT DOWNWIND PATTERN, THE PIC NOTICED THE RIGHT OUTER WING WAS BENT UP AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. PIC STATED THE AIRCRAFT WAS "DIFFICULT TO HANDLE". THE RIGHT OUTER WING DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT DURING THE TRANSITION FROM BASE TO FINAL. PIC STATED, "THE AIRCRAFT FLEW MUCH BETTER AFTER THE WING TIP SNAPPED OFF". PIC WAS ABLE TO LAND SAFELY WITH NO FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE PIC WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
