## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC STATED THAT AFTER THROTTLE UP FOR TAKEOFF HE PERFORMED A LOW-SPEED ABORT BECAUSE LEFT ENGINE FAILED TO PRODUCE ADEQUATE TAKEOFF THRUST. LEFT ENGINE RUN-UP ON THE TAXIWAY CONFIRMED THAT LEFT ENGINE WASN'T MAKING TAKEOFF THRUST. ON SHUT-DOWN, THE LEFT PROPELLER WENT TO FEATHER. OWNER HAD LOCAL MAINTENANCE REMOVE LEFT PROPELLER FOR OVERHAUL AT A BOISE, IDAHO REPAIR STATION.

THE REPAIR STATION REPORTED THAT THE TWO LOW PITCH STOP SCREWS (ARROWHEAD SCREWS) WERE FOUND BROKEN OFF AND EMBEDDED IN THE ALUMINUM PLATE THAT HOLDS THEM. THE REPAIR STATION REPORTED THAT THE BROKEN PIECES WOULD HAVE IMPEDED THE PROPELLER FROM ACHIEVING FULL INCREASE RPM PITCH SETTING CAUSING THE LOW THRUST AT TAKEOFF POWER. THE LOW PITCH STOPS ARE RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT AT 6 YEARS. THE BROKEN LOW PITCH STOPS HAD BEEN IN SERVICE FOR APPROXIMATELY 12 YEARS.
