THE PURPOSE OF THE FLIGHT WAS A PERSONAL VFR CROSS-COUNTRY SIGHT-SEEING TRIP. NO FAA FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED.THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED IN PHOENIX, AZ, EARLIER IN THE DAY. THE AIRCRAFT INCURRED MINOR DAMAGE DURING THE RESULTING PROPELLOR STRIKE. THE PILOT, AN FAA COMMERCIAL-RATED PILOT AND CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR IN AIRPLANES, STATED HE BEGAN CORRECTING TO THE RIGHT AS THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT IN A STRONG GUSTY CROSSWIND AND THAT HE ACCIDENTLY APPLIED TOE-BRAKES AND TIPPED OVER ONTO THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT STRIKING THE RUNWAY WITH THE PROPELLOR. THE PILOT, THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT, WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
