## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SHORTLY AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT SWERVED OFF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS RUNNING ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE ASPHALT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SKIDDING IN THE DIRT WHEN THE NOSE ROSE AND FELL OVER A DIRT MOUND THAT FORCED THE PROPELLER TO REPEATEDLY STRIKE THE GROUND AND FORCING THE AIRCRAFT OVER ITSELF, PIVOTING ABHOUT ITS SPINNER. THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WING STRUCK A CONCRETE RETAINING WALL AND THE AIRPLANE CAME TO REST ON ITS BACK. A NEARBY MECHANIC BROKE THE PILOT SIDE WINDOW ALLOWING THE PILOTS TO ESCAPE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA089](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA089), Jan 20, 2023: Piper PA-28-140 (N5610U), San Antonio, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
