## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE INSTRUCTOR UNDER OBSERVATION INITIATED THE SIMULATED ENGINE FAILURE BY ROLLING THE THROTTLE TO THE IDLE POSITION AND ANNOUNCED “SIMULATED”. THE PILOT UNDER INSTRUCTION LOWERED THE COLLECTIVE AND INITIATED THE AUTOROTATION. WHEN THE PILOT UNDER INSTRUCTION INITIATED THE FLARE AT APPROXIMATELY 150’ AGL, THE INSTRUCTOR UNDER OBSERVATION BEGAN TO ADVANCE THE THROTTLE TO THE MAX DETENT. THE OBSERVER VISUALLY SAW THE INSTRUCTOR UNDER OBSERVATION ADVANCE THE THROTTLE TO THE MAX DETENT AND DID NOT SEE OR HEAR ANYTHING UNUSUAL UNTIL THE LOW ROTOR HORN BECAME AUDIBLE. MOMENTS LATER, THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD ON THE PARALLEL TAXIWAY.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
