## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON FEBRUARY 23, 2023 AT APPROXIMATELY 1910 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME (CDT) A CESSNA 560XL AIRPLANE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE DUE TO A BIRD STRIKE WHILE ON FINAL APPRAOACH TO DES MOINES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT DES MOINES, IOWA (KDSM).

THE PILOT REPORTED ENCOUNTERING A LARGE FLOCK OF 10-12 BIRDS AT APPROXIMATLEY 2600FT AND 6 DME DURING THE ILS TO RUNWAY 31. THE PILOT CONTACTED THE TOWER AND REPORTED THE BIRD STRIKE.

UPON LANDING A POST FLIGHT INSPECTION REVEALED TWO IMPACTS FROM THE BIRD STRIKE. ONE IMPACT ON THE TOP IMBOARD CORNER OF THE CO-PILOTS WINDSCREEN, WITH NO DAMAGED REPORTED. SECOND IMPACT TO THE LEFT-WING LEADING EDGE, WITH TWO DENTS REPORTED. THE PILOTS AND PASSENGERS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY OR ASSISTANCE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
