## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON FEBRUARY 26, 2023 AT APPROXIMATELY 0915 LOCAL TIME, THE PILOT OF A CUB CRAFTERS CARBON CUB EXPERIENCED A GROUND LOOP WHILE LANDING AT ERIE, CO. THE PILOT HAD FLOWN IN FROM FORT COLLINS, CO AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 34. PILOT STATED WINDS WERE NOT A FACTOR. THE PILOT PROCEEDED TO PERFORM A WHEEL LANDING AND EXPERIENCED A SLIGHT BOUNCE FOLLOWED BY A "VEER TO THE RIGHT". PILOT CORRECTED WITH LEFT RUDDER INPUT BUT THE AIRCRAFT "KEPT GOING TO THE LEFT". AIRCRAFT ENDED UP OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY IN THE GRASS. THE PILOT (SOLE OCCUPANT) WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA123](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA123), Feb 26, 2023: Cub Crafters CCX-2000 (N840T), Erie, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
