## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PRE-FLIGHT, ENGINE START, AND RUN-UP WERE NORMAL. PILOT INITIATED TAKE-OFF ROLL AND UPON REACHING 55 KNOTS, ROTATED FROM THE RUNWAY. IMMEDIATELY UPON ROTATION, STALL LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE PILOT LEVELED THE AIRCRAFT WITH ENGINE AT FULL THROTTLE, HOWEVER COULD NOT PREVENT THE AIRCRAFT FROM SETTLING BACK TO THE RUNWAY ALONG THE ITS LEFT EDGE. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND CONTROL WAS LOST. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ON, STRIKING THE ILS ANTENNA, CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS AND THE NOSE GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED FORWARD TOWARDS A TAXIWAY, UPON CONTACT WITH THE EDGE OF THE TAXIWAY THE NOSE GEAR WAS SHEARED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. CONTINUED ACROSS THE TAXIWAY, FORWARD MOMENTUM OF THE AIRCRAFT BEING SIGNIFICANTLY SLOWED BY CONTACT BETWEEN THE FUSELAGE AND PAVEMENT, COMING TO REST JUST BEYOND THE EDGE OF THE TAXIWAY. THE PILOT SUFFERED NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23LA199](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23LA199), Apr 8, 2023: Piper PA28 (N2448R), Somerset, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane during the takeoff, which resulted in a runway excursion and collision with an airport navigation antenna.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
