## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT ON SECOND SOLO FLIGHT WAS CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 28 AT ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT. AFTER BECOMING AIRBORNE, THE STUDENT BECAME NERVOUS AND DECIDED TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF. UPON TOUCHDOWN, INSUFFICIENT RUNWAY REMAINED TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND DOWN AN EMBANKMENT BEFORE COMING TO REST. INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE AND FUEL SYSTEM REVEALED NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23LA193](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23LA193), Apr 10, 2023: Piper PA-28-181 (N476TA), West Mifflin, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s decision to abort the takeoff and land on the runway without sufficient runway remaining, which resulted in a runway overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
