## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APR 13, 2023, AT APPROXIMATELY 0840 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME(EDT) A TEXTRON AVIATION, INC., MODEL B300, REPORTED THE RIGHT HAND UPPER ENGINE COWL DOOR SEPERATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT DURING FLIGHT AFTER DEPARTURE FROM NORFOLK, VIRGINIA (ORF). DURING CLIMB OUT OF NORFOLK, VIRGINIA (ORF), DEPARTING ON RUNWAY TWENTY-THREE (23) CLIMBING THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 5000 FEET, THE RIGHT OUTBOARD UPPER ENGINE COWLING DOOR OPENED THEN SHEARED OFF AT APRROXIMATELY EIGHT (8) NAUTICAL MILES SOUTH/SOUTHWEST OF AIRPORT. CREW DIVERTED BACK TO NORFOLK, VIRGINIA (ORF) AND RETURNED TO AIRPORT, LANDED AND TAXIED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED IMPACT DAMAGE TO THE TOP OF RIGHT WING, RIGHT LEADING EDGE, AND DEICE BOOT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
