## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 15, 2023, N5400S LANDED HARD, NOSE FIRST ON RUNWAY 8 AT KLCI. THE PILOT WAS IN THE FLARE WHEN A GUST OF WIND TOOK THE PLANE UP. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT'S STATEMENT, HE APPLIED FULL POWER FOR A GO AROUND AND THE NOSE PITCHED DOWN IMPACTING THE NOSE GEAR INTO THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND SUBSEQUENTLY FORCED THE MAIN GEAR TO COLLAPSE TOWARD THE REAR OF THE AIRCRAFT. DUE TO THE FORCE OF THE NOSE IMPACTING THE RUNWAY THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL AND THE RIGHT WING WAS DISLODGED FROM THE FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23LA196](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23LA196), Apr 15, 2023: ICP Savannah S (N5400S), Gilford, NH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane during an attempted go-around, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall and impact with the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
