## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS WAS THE AIRCRAFT'S FIRST FLIGHT SINCE BEING REPAIRED AND ENGINE BEING REPLACED. THE AIRCRAFT OWNER HAD VERY LITTLE TIME IN THIS TYPE OF AIRCRAFT. HE HIRED THE ACCIDENT PILOT TO CONDUCT THIS FLIGHT.

THE PILOT WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE AIRPLANE WAS OPERATED AS A TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91 PERSONAL FLIGHT.

AT APPROXIMATELY 1035AM, THE AIRCRAFT STARTED ITS TAKE-OFF ROLL BECAME AIRBORNE. ONCE AIRBORNE, THE AIRCRAFT STARTED AN IMMEDIATE LEFT CRAB AND WAS OBSERVED BY SEVERAL WITNESSES LEFT OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE. SHORTLY AFTER BECOMING AIRBORNE, THE AIRCRAFT APPEARD TO MAKE TWO LEFT TURNS THEN DISSAPEARD BEHIND THE TREE LINE. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23FA194](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23FA194), Apr 15, 2023: Holland Travis E Velocity (N2357), Andrews, NC, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to engage the turbocharger for takeoff and his improper decision to continue the takeoff with partial power, rather than reject the takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
