## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT FLYING ONE PASSENGER EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE. PILOT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED A FORCED LANDING IN A FIELD. AIRCRAFT ROLLED TO A STOP WHERE BOTH PILOT AND PASSENGER EXITED THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY.

THE INCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED MINOR AIRFRAME DAMAGE CONSISTING OF SCRATCHES TO THE INBOARD RIGHT WING, LOWER SKIN PANELS. THE ENGINE #3 CYLINDER SEPERATED FROM THE ENGINE CASE AND WAS SLAMMED INTO THE RIGHT-SIDE ENGINE COWLING. THE RIGHT-SIDE COWLING WAS BOWED OUTWARD FROM THE IMPACT OF THE CYLINDER. ALL 4 CYLINDER RETAINER BOLTES WERE SHEARED. THE CASE AFT OF THE #3 CYLINDER WAS FRACTURED AND BROKEN OUT. THE PISTION WAS FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE COWLING WITH THE PISTON PIN BROKEN OUT AND MISSING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
