## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AN AEROLITE 103 CONDUCTED ENGINE RUN-UP WITH ALL ENGINE INDICATION READING WITHIN LIMITS. THE PILOT DEPARTED TO THE WEST AND OBTAINED CRUISE FLIGHT OF APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET. 15 MINUTES FROM THE AIRPORT THE ENGINE STOPPED WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. THE PILOT IDENTIFIED A CLEARING APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES WEST OF THE AIRPORT AND MADE A POWER OFF CRASH LANDING. THE PILOT MADE A CELL PHONE CALL FOR ASSISTANCE TO WHICH THE MOBILE COUNTY SHERRIFS DEPARTMENT, EMT'S AND LOCAL AIRPORT PERSONNEL AIDED IN EXTRACATING THE PILOT. THE PILOT WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SPINAL FRACTURES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
