## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC WAS APPROACHING THE KXVG AIRPORT FROM THE SOUTH AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME TIME AS ANOTHER AIRCRAFT. BOTH AIRCRAFT AGREED THAT THE PIC OF THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT COULD ENTER THE PATTERN FIRST. THE PIC OF THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT CHOSE TO LAND ON RUNWAY 31 (3549’ X 79’). THE WIND WAS VARIABLE, BUT FROM THE NE AT 7 KNOTS AND WAS GENERALLY A 90° CROSSWIND FOR EACH RUNWAY. DURING TOUCHDOWN AND ROLLOUT, THE PIC NOTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO “FISHTAIL” AND ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT WITH HARD RIGHT RUDDER AT FIRST. THE PIC ALSO NOTED THAT THE RIGHT WING CONTINUALLY ATTEMPTED TO RISE DURING THE ROLLOUT. THE FIRST SET OF SKID MARKS WERE NOTED 1300’ DOWN THE RUNWAY WHILE THE SECOND SET WAS NOTICEABLE 2246’ DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY 2374’ DOWN THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO REST IN A DITCH 101’ TO THE LEFT OF CENTERLINE AND APPROXIMATELY 2576’ DOWN THE RUNWAY. UPON IMPACT WITH THE DITCH, THE NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED AND DAMAGE WAS NOTED TO THE ENGINE MOUNTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA177](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA177), May 4, 2023: Bellanca 17-30A (N8210R), Longville, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll with an unexpected windshift, which resulted in a runway excursion.

## Other reports on N8210R (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19801026076009I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19801026076009I), Oct 26, 1980: Blanca 7ACA (N8210R), Abilene, TX, Minor damage. Pilot switched tanks on final and engine quit. Had fuel in all tanks and the fuel selector operated normally.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
