## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 05 MAY 2023, APPROXIMATELY 9:45 AM LOCAL, EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT AIRCRAFT ON LANDING ROLLOUT ON VGT RWY 12R PIC STATED A GUST OF WIND LIFTED THE RIGHT-WING HIGH ENOUGH THAT THE LEFT-WING CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT THEN GROUND-LOOPED AND CAME TO REST IN THE DIRT ON R-SIDE OF RWY 12R.

THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING, LOWER FUSELAGE AND THE LEFT MAIN GEAR STRUT WAS TORN FROM THE FUSELAGE DURING THE ACCIDENT.

NO POST-CRASH FIRE OCCURRED OR INJURIES TO PIC AND PASSENGER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR23LA179](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR23LA179), May 5, 2023: ELY John M Vans Acft RV-8 (N83SE), North Las Vegas, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing in gusting wind conditions, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
