## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS OPERATING AN UNAIRWORTHY, UNREGISTERED ROTORWAY EXECUTIVE AMATEUR BUILT ROTORCRAFT IN THE BACKYARD OF HIS RESIDENCE. THE PILOT IS ONLY AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND RATED AND DOES NOT HOLD A ROTORCRAFT CATAGORY RATING. THE UNRATED PILOT WAS REPETATIVELY LIFTING THE ROTORCRAFT OFF THE GROUND "A FEW INCHES" AND THEN TOUCHING BACK DOWN. HE DID THIS FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. ON THE LAST ATTEMPT, DURING LIFTOFF THE PILOT LOST CONTROL AND THE ROTORCRAFT ROLLED LEFT ONTO ITS SIDE. THE PILOT STATED HE ATTEMPTED TO USE RIGHT CYCLIC INPUT TO CONTERACT THE ROLL BUT IT HAD NO EFFECT. AS THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO ROLL LEFT HE REDUCED THROTTLE AND LOWERED THE COLLECTIVE. THE HELICOPTER ROLLED ONTO ITS LEFT SIDE RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
