## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC STATEMENT: ON MAY 22, 2023 THE HAWKER 4000 AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM SAVANNAH, GA TO NORTH ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS AT 40,000 FEET. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESCENDING THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 35,000 FEET WHEN A RIGHT WINDSHIELD OVERHEAT CAS MESSAGE WAS RECEIVED. AS PER THE CHECKLIST THE RIGHT WINDSHIELD HEAT WAS SELECTED OFF. APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS AFTER THE OFF POSITION WAS SELECTED THERE WAS A POP AND THE CO-PILOTS WINDSHIELD SEVERELY CRACKED. ALL PRECAUTIONS WERE MADE BY DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND REQUESTING A DESCENT TO A SAFE ALTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT MAINTAINED PRESSURIZATION NORMALLY AND THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR SO THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED TO A NEARBY MAINTENANCE FACILITY IN TAMPA, FL. AFTER REACHING A SAFE ALTITUDE THE CREW CAREFULLY EVALUATED THE SITUATION, CANCELLED THE EMERGENCY AND PROCEEDED TO TAMPA FOR A NORMAL LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
